Condition Guide

Condition Guide

ELEVION describes every device with one of three cosmetic grades: A Excellent, B Good and C Fair. This page explains what each grade means, which parts of the device it refers to, and what a grade does not tell you.

What a grade covers

The grade summarises the visible condition of three areas: the screen, the frame and edges, and the back. It is a description of appearance at normal viewing distance and up close, in daylight.

What a grade does not cover

A grade is not a functional test. Battery capacity, water resistance and whether every function works are reported for the specific device in our answer. Accessories and packaging are outside the grade too.

AExcellent

A · Excellent — near-new appearance

The device looks close to new from every angle.

Screen
Screen free of scratches, whether lit or dark.
Frame and edges
No dents. At most a faint mark that only shows under close inspection.

BGood

B · Good — gentle wear

An honestly used device that has been well looked after.

Screen
No marks visible with the screen on; faint hairlines may show when it is off.

Light scratches or small scuffs, usually on corners and edges. No dents that change the shape.
Back
Light marks are possible. No cracks.
CFair

C · Fair — visible signs of use

Clear signs of use, reflected in the lowest prices. Our notes for the device tell you exactly what to expect.

Screen
Light scratches may be visible with the screen off. No cracks.
Frame and edges
Noticeable scratches, scuffing or the odd small dent.
Back
Visible scratches or scuffs. No cracks.

How to read a configuration

A configuration page shows model, storage, colour and the maker's specification, but no grade: grades belong to individual devices. When you ask about a configuration, our answer names a device, its grade, our notes on it and its price. Two devices of one configuration can carry different grades and notes.
